Digital Habits I’m Rebuilding

Scrolling endlessly, losing track of time, feeling like my phone is running my life—sound familiar?

Over the past few months, I realised that my digital habits were quietly chipping away at my creativity, focus, and even my rest. It was so bad, I would spend hours bouncing between Instagram, TikTok and X when I could have read ahead of my lectures and prepared batch content. Something had to change, so, I decided it was time for a reset.

What I’m Changing

  1. Phone-Free Mornings – I start my day without checking notifications. Instead, I journal, read, or enjoy a quiet cup of tea. It’s amazing how much clearer my mind feels before the day really begins.
  2. Scheduled Social Media Breaks – Rather than scrolling mindlessly, I have decided to deactivate all of my personal social media pages. All. Of. Them. As for the The Bibi Edit pages, I set dedicated times to check apps. It keeps me present and gives me space to focus on writing, studying, or just being offline.
  3. Weekly Digital Detox – Even a few hours away from screens feels like a breath of fresh air. I use this time to go for a walk, read, or simply reflect.
  4. Curated Feed & Notifications – I’ve unfollowed accounts that drain my energy and silenced unnecessary notifications. Now, my phone inspires me rather than stresses me.

Why Does It Matter?

Rebuilding digital habits isn’t about perfection; it’s about balance. Small changes can create space for creativity, better focus, and calmer, more intentional days.

How It’s Going So Far

When I started this digital reset in September, I’ll admit it felt like losing a part of myself. Dramatic, I know, but I suddenly had all this free time on my hands! I had no choice but to actually focus on the things that I had neglected. Now, almost two months in, I have not only caught up with my studies, but I have written up notes ahead of time. I batch create my posts and I’ve noticed that I’m more focused when reading. Taking a break from socials has definitely done me a world of good!
