The Bibi Brief – January
HAPPY 2026! I hope you’ve had a lovely and productive start to the year.
I don’t know about you, but this year feels…different.
It feels like… change.
Good change.
It makes sense that the theme for this month is The Hobby Edit. This is going to be a month of building slow, sustainable habits that set us up nicely for the rest of the year. The way I see it, the systems that you put in place in January can have a huge impact on the rest of the year.
So with that, I’ve introduced a new topic…hobbies!
Not everything you love needs to be monetised.
The Hobby Edit began as a rebellion against hustle culture. Somewhere along the way, we forgot that joy is allowed to exist without outcome.
A hobby is not a side hustle in disguise.
It is play. Curiosity. Experimentation without pressure.
This is something that I’ve wanted to explore and mention. As someone who is wholeheartedly against letting the constant grind rule your life, I spent time researching and looking into different activities that I would like to explore and I’ve come up with a list of things that I want to try:
Exciting, right?!
This month, we explored:
Returning to childhood interests.
Creating badly and loving it anyway
Separating passion from performance.
Why creative women deserve leisure.
You are allowed to do something purely because it delights you.
No audience.
No metrics.
No optimisation.
Just you, and the act itself.
One of my goals is to give as much of these a try as I can…
…and another goal…
…is to take you all with me!
I’m gonna take the plunge and start doing film content.
And I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but that is a huge deal for me.
Like, huge!
As someone who had a crippling fear of being perceived (I’m working on this, I promise!), I started The Bibi Edit posting writing content as it was within my comfort zone. And while that in itself was a massive leap, I would love to find ways to engage with more of you.
So, I’m going to do it.
Every month of this year has an overarching theme that my posts will be based around and I’m going to be introducing new topics, essays and writer spotlights! Writer spotlights will be for writers whose work I have read, reread and obsessed over. Writers who have created characters that I feel are highly relatable and who I feel have such an admirable writing style and who I feel are inspiring.
So…watch this space guys!
Have an AMAZING February!
Creatively yours,
– Bibi x
