The Love Edit

The Bibi Brief — February

Love is often misunderstood as only what we feel for others.

Yet the truest work of love begins quietly, within ourselves: In the way we nurture our creativity, honour our routines, and tend to our own growth.

The Love Edit isn’t about grand gestures or dramatic declarations.

It is about attention.

Intention.

Presence.

It asks: How do we show care? For our work, our ambitions, and our hearts? In ways that sustain us?

This month, we explore:

  • Self-love as foundation: honouring boundaries, resting without guilt, and valuing your time.
  • Love for your craft: approaching creative life with curiosity, patience, and gentleness.
  • Connection: cultivating relationships that nourish rather than drain, and learning when to release what no longer serves you.
  • Small acts of care: from morning rituals to the words you say to yourself.

And in honour of American Black History Month, we will also look at the Black female writers who redefined what it means to love… through their words.

Love is not always loud.

It does not always appear as firework moments.

It’s usually quiet, deliberate, and consistent, like a letter written in careful handwriting, like a garden tended every day, like the pages of a journal that remember your growth when no one else notices.

This month’s prompt:
How can you show love to yourself, your work, or someone else today — even in a small, intentional way?

Love is the edit we return to again and again, shaping life with warmth, patience, and attention.

With love,

– Bibi x
